Weekly Gaming Report - 2012/03/21 Jack Week 3+

So, I delayed posting what I have done recently because I wanted to finish up the jacks + morty and post up some photos. I am not 100% satisfied with my results, but I think it will due for a tabletop standard of painting. The problem I am facing is that the carapaces between all my batches of jacks are a little different between batch. First batch being 3 nightwretches. Second batch was a slayer, reaper and deathjack. This is my biggest batch being a slayer, harrower, 2 dirt dolphins and a stalker PLUS morty.

Well, without further ado, here are some pictures of my figures:

Weekly Gaming Report - 2012/03/12 JACK WEEK Part Zwei!

So, I finally got a whole week full of evenings where I was able to paint.  It was good to get back to a proper amount of painting and I have more faith I can almost get all of this done before my trip at the end of March.

Accomplishments:

  • finished base-coats of Slayer, Harrower, 2 Dirt Dolphins and a stalker
  • washed all of the 5 said jacks
  • begin highlighting the metals on the said jacks
  • paint Mortenebra to about 40% completion
  • put some dabs of extra thrall flesh on one of the 10 mechanithralls I have waiting for paint

Goals for the weak:

  • finish the jacks including painting bases and flocking
  • finish mortenebra including painting base and flocking
  • start on prime skarre or the mechanithralls.  I might do the MTs first just because I have been finding I like painting infantry (I mean, is that crazy or what?)
  • get in a game or 2 on Tuesday night with my legion (might be next tues, depending on schedules)
  • play a few games on vassal.  I was pretty tired at the end of the night when I usually get a chance to play, so no games last week unfortunately.

Here are a few pics of the weeks progression:

Hope you enjoy the photos and I hope to bring some pics of the complete models next week!

battle report - 2012/02/28

So I was able to get in one game in on Tuesday night.  We have been meeting for games in the basement of a small bar.  Food is great, the beer is great and it is a nice place to play a few games and have a waiter attend your needs :-D.

My list:
Feora, Protector of the Flame (42 pts)
* Redeemer
* Templar
* Vanquisher
* Hierophant
Choir of Menoth (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Exemplar Errants (Leader and 9 Grunts)
* Exemplar Errant Officer & Standard Bearer
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord
The Wrack (3 wracks)
2 x Vassal of Menoth

Reserves (8 pts)
Full unit of zealots + UA

My opponents list:
Lich Lord Asphyxios (42 pts)
* 2 x Deathripper
* Skarlock Thrall
Bane Knights (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Bane Thralls (Leader and 5 Grunts)
Bile Thralls (Leader and 5 Grunts)
The Withershadow Combine
Bane Lord Tartarus
General Gerlak Slaughterborn
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist
2 x Warwitch Siren

Reserves (8 pts)
Full satyxis blood witches + UA

This was the first game I played with reserves for the new 2012 SR scenarios (still need to get myself a copy of them).  I don't think the full unit of zealots were optimal, it was all I really had except for a few light warjacks (which actually might not have been a bad idea).  I forget what the scenario was called but I ended up losing by it.  He never even popped his feat!  I got to witness the horror that is the excarnate/bile thrall trick and lost a good portion of my KEE due to that trick, plus the blood witch hag preventing my KEE from using their sacrifice trick.  Rhupert did a good job and even beat down one of the witches (last attempt ditch moves).

What I did find was that the templar was pretty much just watching the battle most of the time since I never gave him a good opportunity to get in and tussle with anyone.  I don't think he fits in this list and I would rather run 2 vanquishers instead.   I think if I subbed that, it would be a much better/performant list.

All and all it was a fun game (my first vs eGaspy) and I would gladly rematch it given I could tweak my list as well (not sure what I would put in for my reserves).

Another low-output week

Seeing as how I still had visitors til Saturday, I didn't get much done last week.

Accomplishments:

  • played a 42 point game against a friend's eGaspy list (battle-report forthcoming)
  • based harrier
  • based absolonia
  • based rhyas
  • based spawning vessel and crew
  • built totem hunter (didn't realize how big this guy is.  He looks pretty cool :-))
  • finished base coat of hammerfall khaki on the 5 jacks

This week begins Jack Week Part 2!

Goals:

  • Finish paint for Slayer2, Harrower, Stalker, Dirt Dolphins 1&2
  • Paint bases plus flocking for said warjacks

Wish me luck!  It is going to be a busy week (I hope)
